How To Monetize Channel On YOuTUbe YouTube Monetization THE ULTIMATE GUIDE

There are five basic requirements you must meet before you can apply for the program. And we'll start with the two viewership milestones. (mouse clicks) You must reach 1,000 subscribers on your channel. The good news here is that there is no time limit. You can take as long as you need to to get the subscribers, and all subscribers from all traffic sources count to this requirement. (clock ticking) (bell dings) You also need 4,000 hours of watch time on your channel.
And these must be public watch time hours. What this means is that any watch time gained from private, unlisted, deleted videos, and ad campaigns, will not count. The same goes for videos viewed as YouTube Shorts, and any live stream that is uning that's being watched on your channel from the last 12 months, from today's date, counts as watch time. That means that the videos themselves can be over 12 months old. It will just count the watch time from those videos over the last 12 months. And if that makes sense, do make sure to give this video a thumbs up.
The next requirement is to enable 2-Step Verification on your account. This is a handy support page that will guide you through the process, which I've linked to below, along with the next two monetization requirements. Those are that you must comply with all the monetization policies. There are a lot of them, make sure you read them.
And you must not have any active Community Guidelines strikes on your channel. If you have one, you'll need to wait until it expires before you can apply. Typically strikes last 90 days from the date of the offense. It's very easy to track the current state of these requirements from the monetization section of the YouTube Studio from a desktop browser.
So you have 1,000 subscribers, and you have 4,000 hours of watch time, you meet all of you have the requirements, what happens next? Well, this monetization requirements screen will transform itself into a monetization application screen that has three steps. And before you start the first one, there is something really important that you need to do. You need to make sure your country of residence is set correctly in your settings under the Channel section.
This is because eligibility for the YouTube Partner Program is based on your country, and there are also tax implications. These are all of the countries where the YouTube Partner Program is available. There's a lot of them.  Now, a few important things to note at this point. Actual humans will review your channel to make sure it's suitable. Copyright strikes won't affect your application, but copyright claims may do if you have too many of them. And YouTube's stated turnaround time to review your channel is approximately one month.
But we've seen many instances where they've done it a lot quicker, sometimes 72 hours, sometimes even less. If your application into the YouTube Partner Program is rejected, YouTube will email to let you know. Be warned, they will probably give you a vague reason. You will then have to wait 30 days to reapply, so do make sure to sort out your channel in the meantime.
Oh, and if you want more info on the application process, make sure to check out this video where we go into a lot more detail.
You can set up ads both at an individual video level, and let's say, a channel-default level through the main settings in the YouTube Studio. This doesn't just apply to new videos, either. You can monetize everything you've already published on your channel, too. An extra step you may start to notice when you monetize content, is the Ad Suitability section. This is where you need to self-certify that your videos follow the general monetization guidelines we talked about earlier. If your content is classed as borderline, it may have limited ads, or be demonetized completely. So, it's definitely worth reviewing this page thoroughly the first time you upload content you want to monetize. But here's a really cool thing about YPP, you don't just get access to monetizations.
Extra perks include direct access to customer support, meaning you can actually chat to human beings at YouTube, as long as you live in one of these countries. (upbeat elevator music) You'll also get to use the copyright matching tools that will show you if other channels are using your videos. You can then take action if you need to. Oh
ulate until you trigger that payout, which usually arrives in your bank account between the 21st and 26th of the following month. (bell dings) Of course, how much you get paid depends on many different factors, which you can learn all about in this video. As I'm sure you'll agree, all of this is very valuable information. But what about YouTube currently there is no way to track whether or not you will get paid by this fund. YouTube will simply contact you between the 8th and 10th of each month to let you know if you are eligible for a bonus payment. You then have until the 25th of a month to claim that bonus. As I said earlier, you don't need to be part
evator music) All right then, time for a few frequently asked questions. Hey, I'm not monetized yet, why is YouTube putting adverts on my videos? The short answer is, it's YouTube's platform, they can do whatever they want. But this is a good sign. If YouTube is putting adverts on your videos before you're in the YouTube Partner Program, that means it's more likely that when you're in the YouTube Partner Program, YouTube is gonna be happy to throw as many adverts at your channel as humanly possible. What happens if you meet YPP requirements, a
f those extra perks, including contacting YouTube support, and the copyright matching tool. Oh, you know what? There are so many questions surrounding monetization. Why don't you pop them in the comments below? And if there's enough of them, I'll make a dedicated video all about those questions. In the meantime, if you wanna learn more about a monetization feature that I specifically left out of this video, then check it out over here. And I can't help myself, let's roll that music one more time.
